launched-internship-program

Launched Internships for 18 Students

Our internship program couples valuable work experience with an individualized mentorship program to support young people as they navigate life after turning 18.

Interns identify businesses that are making an impact in their communities as well as programs that serve young people who experienced foster care.

This internship launched our efforts to bring trauma-informed work opportunities for foster youth to companies across the country.

donated-49k-to-colleges

Donated $49,000 to College Programs

Doing Good Works donated over $49,000 to college programs that support students who experienced foster care in their pursuit of college degrees.

Our biggest donation to date was for $10,000 to Mount San Antonio College’s REACH program.

Jeze Lopez, REACH Program Director, shared, “When I heard we got the donation, I was hoping it would be $500… when I heard it was for $10,000, I nearly fell out of my chair.”

covid-19-emergency-fund

Created COVID-19 Emergency Fund

Doing Good Works provided 45 people who experienced foster care with emergency funding for rent, food, and medical needs in the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We called this effort the “Stronger Together Fund” because we know that especially during our toughest times, we are stronger together.

donated-200k-face-masks

Donated 200,000+ Face Masks

Leading up to the 2020 elections, Doing Good Works partnered with Business for America and Get Out the Vote, to provide over 200,000 face masks to support safe voting initiatives across the country.

As a member of “Time to Vote,” Doing Good Works empowers our employees to vote on Election Day by taking paid time off.

created-54-job-opportunities

Created 54 New Job Opportunities

In addition to our internship program, Doing Good Works developed new kitting and fulfillment jobs where young people can learn to pick and pack items, report inventory, and manage shipping manifests to support our customers as they provide for a remote workforce.

Our packout team is offered transportation to the worksite and free lunch and all of our managers practice trauma-informed practices to effectively support this team.

became-b-corp-certified

Became a Certified B Corporation

Doing Good Works became a Certified B Corporation in April 2020. B Corps are companies that use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

Our company began with a very clear vision, “to give young people who have experienced foster care a deserving chance to succeed and feel empowered,” and we are proud to be aligned with other mission-driven organizations.

granted-50-wishes-for-children

Granted 50 Wishes in the U.S.

Doing Good Works earned the spot of 822 on the Inc 5000 List of Fastest Growing Private Companies in the US. This honor was a direct result of a strong team, customers, and suppliers who invest in our mission.

To acknowledge our community that made this possible, we partnered with One Simple Wish to grant 50 wishes to foster youth across the country.

This $10,000 investment brought essentials to someone who lost everything in a fire, healthy groceries to students in college, musical instruments to children, and so much more.

educated-students-social-impact

Educated Students on Social Impact Businesses

Doing Good Works Co-Founders, Scott and Jordan, shared their experience of creating a social impact business with students at the College of of Higher Administration Studies in Bogata, Colombia and the Social Impact Hub at Rollins College (Jordan’s alma mater!).

By discussing how to turn a passion for social and environmental justice into a profitable business and how to pivot in times of crisis, their lessons inspired students around the world to use business as a force for good.

2020 presented us with many unique challenges as government agencies struggled to battle a pandemic, businesses saw huge revenue drops, and millions of individuals were faced with fear and isolation. Every one of our lives was impacted by the wide-spread damage brought on by COVID-19.

Our customers were hit hard as many had to transition to a remote workforce and find new ways to protect the health and safety of their employees and customers. In response to the changes in our world, Doing Good Works opened our warehouse to ship branded merchandise to individuals’ homes so our customers could stay connected and engaged with their employees. Additionally, we transitioned our business to support our customers in procuring PPE and other protective essentials.

Although our mission of improving lives and connecting communities looked different than we ever imagined, 2020 was our most impactful year yet. We look at life through the lens of Eight Life Domains – Employment, Finance, Housing, Education, Health, Life Skills, Relationships, and Identity – so our 2020 Impact Highlights reflect the domains that we aim to strengthen for every person we work with.
